I had never heard this term before, and came across it in a blog post I was reading.
Helicopter parent is a colloquial, early 21st-century term for a parent who pays extremely close attention to his or her child’s or children’s experiences and problems
I tend to hover, a bit, if I’m honest. If I go to kindy to help out, then I will try and be near Saffron, simply because I’m there for her, not for the kindy, selfish eh?
If I send a child somewhere away from me, I will watch. This is the environment we are in now. I don’t think this is entirely a bad thing. I would hate myself if anything happened and I wasn’t watching!
So are you a helicopter parent?
