I just got fired. I’ve never been fired in my life. Here’s the story.
I deliver catalogues, and pick them up the next day, along with orders. A week later, i go back and deliver the order and pick up the money…
Sounds simple right?
Go in to the boss today, to pick up my orders, and pay for last weeks… she says, ‘what day did you deliver?’
I tell her i delivered on Monday and picked up on Tuesday.
She told me that i’m lying. That i picked up today.
I advise no, i picked up on Tuesday. That my brother was with me at the time, so i have proof, and today i’ve been with a friend all morning, so haven’t been picking up, so have that proof too.
She tells me that a lady who placed an order with me, rang the head office to complain that i delivered the catalgoue LAST week, and picked up TODAY. I asked for the ladies name and address, found her order, and told her that no, the order even had Tuesday’s date on it. And showed her the order.
She then said that the woman also complained that i hadnt’ left my name and phone number.
I said that was also incorrect, that this woman had left a note with her order, saying that she would like to place more orders during the next few weeks, and i’d left her a note thanking her for her business, here was my name and phone number AND i DATED the peice of paper.
So my boss asks me if i’m calling the customer a liar. I said no, that she was an older woman, and obviously was confused with the dates.
So my boss says she doesn’t want liars on her team, and I am dismissed.
Far out! Sometimes you just can't win can you? I wonder why people seem to make life so damn difficult. Sounds like you're better off not working with that woman, but I hope a new opportunity comes up for you soon.
Just goes to show that even when you're right you can be "wrong", clearly that lady thinks you're wrong for her; with the 20 year blog archive over there on the right you have clearly been doing something right – long may it last!
Talent will out I'm sure
