I decided we’d have soup and something garlicy for lunch so I decided to make garlic knots (based on this recipe)
Ingredients
Dough:
1c warm water
2T oil
1t sugar
dash salt
1 sachet yeast
3 1/2c Flour
Baste:
2T oil
2t marge
6 cloves garic
dash salt
A little cheese (parmesan if you have it)
Method
- Preheat oven to 80 degrees or so
- Mix the oil salt sugar and water
- Sift in the flour and yeast
- Beat the …. inconsistency out of it
- Turn off the oven and put the mix in the oven for 1/2 hour
- Flour the bench ready for rolling and line two trays with baking paper
- Take the mix out, put the oven back on and beat it some more
- Roll the mix out flat and square
- Cut 12 strips then cut them in half (so you have 24)
- Make the strips into knots and place on the trays
- Turn off the oven and put the trays in for 1/2 hour
- Mix the baste and heat in a frying pan
- Finely grate some cheese
- Take the knots out and preheat the oven to 180 degrees
- Baste the knots with the garlic baste then sprinkle with cheese
- Cook for about 8 minutes then swap the trays (top goes down bottom goes up) and cook for another 8 or so
- Eat them while warm π
I think next time I’ll try putting some cheese inside to make cheesy ones but they were good for soup just like this π
You make it sound so easy! Sounds yummy!
It's not as hard as you might think, the only bit that was actually hard is waiting for the dough – I'm not that patient π
